The Toastmasters "District"
Regions and Districts
Toastmasters International is a worldwide organisation. From an organisational perspective, Toastmasters is divided into several Regions. Each region is then broken up into several administrative Districts.
New Zealand is located in Oceania, Region 12, along with Districts 17, 69, 70, 73 and 90 in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
A District can only contain so many clubs and New Zealand got too big. From July 1, 2018, District 112 was created to serve the North Island, excluding Greater Wellington and the Wairarapa. The original District (72) continues to serve the south of the country.
