Member spotlight – Public Relations Manager Elizabeth Viljoen interviews Adele Hauwai of Dinsdale Toastmasters in Hamilton, Toastmasters New Zealand North, District 112.
Adele has been the second place winner of the International Speech Contest of the District 112 FOCUS 2020 Online Conference, and recently participated in TEDxRuakura.
During the TEDx talk she tells of her journey with epilepsy, raising awareness of epilepsy, and her brain surgery. Being involved in the deaf world–using sign language–she had to learn to get her voice back, with the help of her Toastmasters club.
She will soon present at the World Indigenous Business Forum, and this year started her own business, Healing Innovation Hub, which focuses on indigenous cultures and motivational speaking.
Adele shares many helpful tips on public speaking – of her experience at her Toastmasters club, during contests, and on the TEDx stage.
